SETC operates daily bus services from Chennai to Batlagundu and Batlagundu to Chennai, SETC have recently announced the launch of Chennai to Theni AC Bus service with stoppage at Batlagundu.

The schedule is operated by fully air conditioned coach manufactured by private body building unit in Ashok Leyland Chassis. The coaches have seating capacity of 34 passengers with push back seats. The coaches are equipped with individual air conditioning control vents, mobile charging ports and air suspension chassis for additional travel comfort.

The fare for the service is fixed at Rs. 605 excluding the reservation charges, the journey hours from Chennai to Batlagundu is 10 hours 30 minutes covering a distance of 464 kilometres. The route number designated for the service is 160AC with trip code 19:45THECHEAC . The boarding point for the schedule is Chennai Dr. MGR Bus Terminal located at Batlaguntu Bus Stand.

Batlagundu (pronounced Vathalakkundu) is a town in Dindigul district in the Madurai Region state of Tamil Nadu, India. The name Vettrilaikkundru later transformed and changed to Vatthalagundu. The town is the major gateway to Kodaikanal. Subramaniya Siva was a writer and activist born in Batlagundu. Batlagundu is the fifth-largest town in the Dindigul district. Batlagundu has most of the voters in Nilakottai Constituency.

Batlagundu is closely associated with Agriculture. The Town has many agricultural lands. Batlagundu is an important hub in Dindigul district. The Town is home to various banana and coconut productions.

The town is believed to be significant antiquity and has been ruled at different times, by the Pandiyan, Cholas, Madurai Nayakas and the British.
