The government of Tamil Nadu has announced the invitation of tender for procuring 1000 new ac low floor buses to operate in Chennai and its suburban’s, the new procurement will be as per the latest GCC guidelines, at present OHM an Ashok Leyland company is providing vehicle and driver for operations of the fleets in agreement with Chennai MTC.
The tenders can be applied on basis of e-tenders, the tenders documents are available in tntenders.gov.in, mtcbus.tn.gov.in, tnidb.tn.gov.in.

- 7th April 2026 4:30 PM – Tender will be opened
- 13th March 2026 3:00 PM – Pre Bid Meeting
The tender requires an Earnest Money Deposit (EMD) of ₹5,00,00,000 for the procurement, supply, operation, and maintenance of 1,000 12-meter AC low-floor electric buses. Additionally, the project includes the development of allied electrical and civil infrastructure, with all operations running on a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model.
