In a major initiative to enhance public transport services, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Salem Region, today inaugurated five new short-chassis BS-VI hill route buses for the benefit of the public at the new Salem bus stand.

In addition, to further improve city transport connectivity for school students, women, and the general public, five city bus routes have been modified, and four city bus routes have been extended to new destinations.
The new services were flagged off by the Hon’ble Minister for Public Works and Highways, Thiru E.V. Velu, and the Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Thiru R. Rajendran, in the presence of distinguished guests and officials.
The inaugural event was attended by Dr. R. Brindha Devi, I.A.S., District Collector of Salem, Thiru A. Ramachandran, Hon’ble Mayor of Salem Corporation, Thiru T.M. Selvaganapathy, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Thiru S.R. Sivalingam, Member of Rajya Sabha, Members of the Legislative Assembly, Thiru V. Gunasekaran, Managing Director, TNSTC, Thiru T. Mohankumar, General Manager (Operations), Thiru K. Rajarajan, Senior Deputy Manager (HRD), along with TNSTC officials, local body representatives, trade union members, government officers, and members of the public.
This initiative aims to strengthen transport infrastructure in Salem and surrounding hill areas, ensuring reliable and eco-friendly mobility under the Tamil Nadu Government’s commitment to public welfare and sustainable transport.
