SETC has resumed bus transport operations from Salem to Chennai as of September 7, 2020. SETC will operate four classic bus routes from Salem to Chennai.
The bus service will have a bio toilet (which will not be used owing to COVID19 limits), in-house mobile charging USB outlets, reading lamps, and tilting windows.

The service fare per passenger is fixed at Rs 358 excluding reservation fees. The route number for the service is 422 Classic, and the total distance from Salem to Chennai is 341 km, which is covered in 8 hours and 30 minutes.
TNSTC, Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation has announced the launch of new AC economy bus service between Salem and Tirupur (Tiruppur). The bus service is operated by new air-conditioned economy class coaches with 3*2 seating arrangement. Buses using the service have amenities such as mobile charging ports, air vents, water bottle holders and luggage racks.
TNSTC has designated the route no. 12111 and 12107 for the service between Tirupur and Salem. The travel time between Tirupur and Salem is approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes, may vary depending on traffic and road enroute the destination.
Salem is a major junction connecting Trichy, Karur, Coimbatore, Erode, and also a hub for pulses connecting the Tamilnadu market. In other side, Tirupur is cotton city of Tamilnadu with large number of textile units manufacturing clothes.
