Government of Tamil Nadu Transport Department

For the first time in Tamil Nadu’s government bus fleet, diesel buses will be converted to eco-friendly CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) buses and operated for public service!
- By June 2025, 38 buses will be converted from diesel to CNG and put into operation.
- From January 2025 onwards, buses will start operating on CNG instead of diesel. By switching to CNG, the cost per kilometer will be ₹3.94 (compared to diesel). Over one year, this CNG initiative is expected to save ₹92,04,870 (₹9.2 million).
- By adopting eco-friendly energy sources like CNG, the transport corporation will contribute to reducing air pollution and environmental impacts.
