Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation Introduces New AC City Bus Service

Chennai Metropolitan Transport Corporation have announced the launch of upgraded AC conditioned coaches for City Transport Operations. The honourable transport minister and chief minister have inspected the bus inducted for the service with Chennai MTC officials.

The MTC officials explained to ministers on various features of the new bus inducted for the service. The coach is made by local manufacturing company at Karur in Ashok Leyland Chassis.

The AC bus service is launched with a gap of 1 year as the buses required to be scrapped and high maintenance costs. Chennai MTC have announced have planned to launch 48 AC Buses with each bus costing approx 36 lakhs.

At present schedule was operated in two routes Koyambedu to Siruseri via Vellachery and Vellachery to Tambaram with route tags 570 and 91 respectively.

There also other routes proposed for the service is Central Railway Station to Thiruvanmiyur (A1), T. Nagar to Kelambakkam (19B), Koyambedu to Vandalur (70V), East Tambaram to Thiruvanmiyur (95) and Broadway to Kelambakkam (102).

The minimum fare for the service is just Rs.16 compared to Rs.28 in Volvo services. A fare difference of Rs. 12, thanks to chief minister and minister panel for bringing innovative bus solutions for the public.
