Southern Railways have announced the launch of Special Trains during COVID 19 effective 1st June 20. As per announced reports, one of the announced routes are Madurai to Villupuram To Madurai.
The Trains schedules will be operated with composition of 3AC Chair Cars, 13 Second Class Chair Cars, 3 Second Class Coaches and 2 Generator Cum Brake Vans.
The schedule from Madurai To Villupuram runs with train No. 02636 and Villupuram to Madurai runs with train No. 02635.
The train will pass through Dindigul, Tiruchirapalli, Ariyalur to reach Villupuram and Madurai.
The train No. 02636 will depart from Madurai To Villupuram at 07.00 AM and arrive at 12.05 pm, The train no. 02635 will depart from Villupuram To Madurai at 4 pm and arrive at 9.20 pm.

TNSTC Government operates daily bus services from Vellore to Dharmapuri. Recently TNSTC have launched a new AC service from Chennai to Dharmapuri via Vellore. The schedules are operated with latest fleets of economic air conditioned coaches manufactured specially for TNSTC. The coach utilized for the service is a Non AC Variant Ashok Leyland bus with pushback seater and air suspension for travel comfort.

A separate entity exclusively for operating long distance express services was conceived by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 1975 and the services were transferred to the newly formed express wing of Pallavan Transport Corporation with effect from 15 September 1975. It was registered formally on 14 January 1980 and renamed as Thiruvalluvar Transport Corporation (TTC) in honor of Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar. During 1990s, JJTC was formed which operated interstate routes of erstwhile TTC. JJTC was then renamed as RGTC in 1996. Both TTC and RGTC was later merged into State express transport corporation (SETC) in 1997.
